The Argentine legend had the ball at his feet near the halfway line, and he began to weave his magic as he took on the England defense. He wriggled through the first line of pressure, then passed the ball and ran into the box. An English defender kicked it straight into Maradona’s path, but a bit too high for him to reach. This is when Maradona took an insane decision – to use his hand bent in a way that it would be very hard to spot, just above his head. The referee failed to spot Maradona’s illegal use of his left hand to punch the ball into the back of the net, and the goal stood.
